Website Video Headers

Many of Connected Hospitality’s clients are resorts and hotels across the US and Canada.   Although we provide dozens of services to our clients, one of the primary services is beautiful websites.  The premise of a grand resort website is stunningly beautiful photographs and videos that capture the essence of a property.   Over the years, hotel websites have seen a few technology fads come and go, but the one requirement that appears to be permanent is video headers.  This requirement poses a substantial problem as good old Google wants page load time to be lightning-fast and videos are huge and slow.   Over the last ten years, we have spent hundreds of hours perfecting the combination of technologies that deliver high-resolution video to the web.   Serving videos from YouTube or Vimeo are potential options riddled with limitations and drawbacks that are so severe that they are not viable options.   Likewise, serving video from your website is so slow and riddled with issues that it is not an option.

Connected Hospitality’s video solution utilizes Adobe Premier to help produce four variations of each video:   Desktop, Notebook, Tablet, and Phone.   We host the videos on Amazon’s CloudFront and then use CSS media queries to deliver the appropriate video to each of the four targeted devices.

The result of combining these technologies is delivering high-resolution video to websites and still roughly adhering to Google’s speed requirements.
